WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Authors poured inspiration into aspiring bookwriters Saturday morning at the Wichita Advanced Learning Library.Â
They shared experiences with published writers as well as those who are up-and-coming.  Â
Special Education teacher Jessie Fishel and author of Wands and Worksheets: The Magical Adventures of a Fifth Grade Wizard said she got exactly what she was looking for Saturday. Â
"I came here just to learn about the process from other authors, what are they doing; how are there experiences of finding an agent; getting rejections; and what inspires them," said Fishel. Â
Panelists gave advice to the crowd drawing from personal experience. Â
Historical fiction writer and author of The Rhino Keeper, Jillian Forsberg, dealt with lots of rejection. Â
She said a rejection fence is how she worked through disappointment before getting published. Â
"I wandered the antique mall until I found a white picket fence and I covered it with flowers every single time I got a rejection. I started out painting really big ones and realized that I am going to fill this fence pretty quickly," said Forsberg.  Â
Library manager Savannah Ball said it is important to have published writers share experiences with people interested in becoming writers. Â
Ball added the goal is to help people thrive in whatever they pursue.
