WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - One person is dead and two others were taken to the hospital after crews responded to a fire in far south Wichita on Wednesday. 

Crews were called shortly before 7:30 a.m. to the fire in the 7100 block of South Volutsia, between Haysville and Derby. They arrived to significant fire emanating from the mobile home.

The Wichita Fire Department confirmed a man had been killed and two people were hospitalized in critical condition.

Battalion Chief Kelly Ross said first responders attempted lifesaving measures one the man who died, but he was pronounced dead in the front yard. Officials have not released his name.

Ross said crews from Wichita, Sedgwick County and Derby responded to the fire. 

Chief Jose Ocadiz said Thursday morning that the cause of the fire can't be determined due to extensive damage in the area of origin.
