WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - One man is dead and two other people are injured after a mobile home fire near Haysville.

Neighbors all expressed their condolences to the family that lost a man in that fire and they hope to help out in any way they can.

Just before 7:30 on Wednesday morning flames engulfed a mobile home in far south Wichita.

“Fire in a trailer is of course always serious. So naturally when a family loses something like that, their own home, it's a pretty serious issue,” said Darrell Creekmore, a neighbor.

Creekmore has been living in Haysville since 1986 and says he’s never seen a fire as damaging as the one in his neighborhood Wednesday morning, but he had previously seen a smaller fire.

“Oh about a month ago I think they had a fire again. Earlier it was about some electronic thing that set off a fire,” said Creekmore.

Previously, the same house had a smaller fire caused by the motor for a water pump but the fire department confirms these two fires are not related.

“Fire had really engulfed the house this time it was very dramatic,” said Creekmore.

Wichita, Sedgwick, and Derby fire departments all responded to Wednesday's fire on South Volusia Street.

“We’re here to help, here to support in whatever way we can, just for them to let us know what they need,” said Creekmore.

One man died in Wednesday's fire and two other people were taken to a local hospital’s burn unit in critical condition.

“It’s devastating, I can’t even imagine what they’re going through to be honest,” said Trisha Torske, a neighbor.

Torske lives in the neighborhood this fire happened in and says she’s lived through a house fire herself.

“I just hope everyone, other than the one who fell, comes out okay and the family. Like I said my heart goes out to them because they have to be going through a lot as well,” said Torske.

This cause of the fire is undetermined due to extensive damage in the area of origin, said Chief Jose Ocadiz with the Wichita Fire Department.

Torske has a message for the family affected, “Keep your head up, I know these are very very hard times. You got a lot ahead of you that's coming your way, that you gotta deal with. Just stay strong. Depend on each other, rely on each other and reach out for help where and when you need it.”

One of the neighbors that spoke to KAKE said that they were told the fire started due to the air conditioner and condenser catching fire but the fire department has not yet confirmed this.

A GoFundMe page has been created to help support the family.
